He thinks she’s a hooker.

She thinks she’s in love with someone else.

After one memorable night, Rachel Foster cannot stop thinking about sexy billionaire hotelier Landon Court, and the way his touch set her body on fire. But as far as she knows, she’s never going to see him again, and that’s okay, because she’d rather not risk falling for him anyway.

For Landon, one night is not enough. He wants Rachel, and he’s not prepared to back down. He always gets what he wants, and she will not be an exception.

Unable to resist her attraction to Landon, Rachel decides to give him what he wants, but on her own terms. One week. Just sex. No commitment.

What happens when love is not allowed, but everything else is?

This book came highly recommended to me, so even though this author is new to me I was optimistic jumping in. What really intrigued me was the whole hooker angle and how it would effect the credibility of the plot. Surprisingly, that aspect made the story even more feasible. It made the rest of the pieces of the plot fit like a puzzle to me. Her reasoning for agreeing to sleep with him, his relentless pursuit after he found out the truth, his alluded desire for more with her once they enter into a physical relationship together all fit together neatly and it made for a totally engrossing read.

Rachel is a heartbroken woman who's suddenly facing the realization that her feelings of love are unrequited. She's at a party in a hotel and flees into the elevator to escape an uncomfortable conversation with the man in question. After unknowingly redirecting herself to the Penthouse and into Hotel mogul Landon's door, the misunderstanding that occurs and the following events that night were truly riveting. Rachel decides to throw caution to the wind and allow herself one night with this man. Landon's eyes are promising untold pleasure and what could an anonymous one-night stand hurt? She'll leave and he'll never be the wiser that she's not the hooker that his brother supposedly sent.

After their scorching hot, lust-filled romp, no one is more shocked than her to discover that Landon has made it his business to find out not only who she is, but where she works. He throws himself in her path until she succumbs to temptation again. I love books where the heroine is relentlessly pursued and seduced and this one was done to perfection. The phrase "thrill of the chase" comes to mind here because I was feeling so overwhelmed by the intensity that flared between this couple. It was non-stop and so, so good.

Rachel tries to keep their relationship strictly physical, she doesn't feel ready to risk anything more after coming off of two wasted years on a man who could never love her. But as time wears on, she wonders how much longer she can force her feelings out of the equation. Because the end of their one week arrangement seems an awful lot like it's going to leave a scar on her despite the walls she put up against him.

I just loved this couple. The heat, and passion, and the potency of their unspoken feelings for each other made for an exciting read. I loved how Landon was so seemingly tormented by her emotional distance from him. It just made me root for them to get it right even more. But this does lead me to my one complaint. I'm not a big fan of non-communication causing conflict and that was unfortunately the case here. There was a whole lot of bottling up their feelings and the result was a rather uncertain future for them in the cliffy ending. Normally I would probably rate a little lower based on this complaint, but I enjoyed the hell out of this one despite that, and I still felt like it was a solid 4.5 star book. I highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a sexy and steamy escapism read.
