A sexy new romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Lex Martin and bestselling author Leslie McAdam…

ALL ABOUT THE D

I'm known for being formal. Meticulous. Professional.

So you’d never suspect I spend my nights photographing my impressive junk for a NSFW blog. Don’t roll your eyes. I’m not bragging. I have millions of followers who’ll tell you they live for my posts.

I’m like a superhero, saving humanity one dick pic at a time.

Except leading a double life means I need someone to help me protect my anonymity, so that no one, especially my family, ever discovers my online celebrity.

When I call one of the most respected law firms in town, I expect quality legal advice and confidentiality. Not a sinfully sexy attorney whose dangerous curves and soul-piercing gray eyes make me want to personally demonstrate my particular skill set.

I shouldn’t be tempted.

Especially when she knows all of my best-kept secrets. But everyone has a breaking point. And I’ve met mine.

Trailer

Lex Martin

Lex writes contemporary romance, the sexy kind with lotsa angst, a whole lotta kissing, and the hot happily ever afters. When she's not writing, she lives a parallel life as an English teacher.

She loves printing black and white photos, listening to music on vinyl, and getting lost in a great book. Bitten by wanderlust, she's  lived all over the country but currently resides in the City of Angels with her husband and twin daughters.

Lex is represented by Kimberly Brower of Brower Literary & Management.

Leslie McAdam

Leslie McAdam is a California girl who loves romance, Little Dude, and well-defined abs. She lives in a drafty old farmhouse on a small orange tree farm in Southern California with her husband and two small children. Leslie always encourages her kids to be themselves - even if it means letting her daughter wear leopard print from head to toe. An avid reader from a young age, she will always trade watching TV for reading a book, unless it's Top Gear. Or football. Leslie is employed by day but spends her nights writing about the men you fantasize about. She's unapologetically sarcastic and notoriously terrible at comma placement.

Always up for a laugh, Leslie tries to see humor in all things. When she's not in the writing cave you'll find her fangirling over Beck, camping with her family, or mixing up oil paints to depict her love of outdoors on canvas.

Review: Mister Romance by Leisa Rayven

Title: Mister Romance
Series: Masters of Love #1
Author: Leisa Rayven
Release date: April 30, 2017
Cliffhanger: No
Rating: 4.5 stars

Blurb:

Max Riley is the man of your dreams. Or at least he will be, for a price.

As his alter-ego Mister Romance, Max is a drop-dead gorgeous escort who makes romantic fantasies come to life. No sex, just swoon-worthy dates to die for, and the cream of New York's socialites can't get enough. Whether they want a dominating billionaire, bad boy with a heart of gold, hot geek, sexy biker, or best friend who loves them from afar, Max can make it all happen, but he's careful to keep his real identity a secret.

Enter investigative journalist Eden Tate. Having caught wind of the urban legend of Mister Romance from a lovestruck client, Eden is determined to publish a scathing expose on Max and his ability to swindle lonely society women out of their fortunes.

Desperate to protect his anonymity and his clients, Max challenges Eden to give him three dates. If she doesn't fall in love with him, she can run her story with his blessing. If she succumbs to his charms, the story dies.

Cynical Eden has no doubt she can resist his fake romance personas, but when the real Max admits he’s falling for her, she has to decide if the professional liar is telling the truth, or if the passionate man with the mysterious past is just one more character designed to con her out of her career-making story.

Don’t miss this sizzling new standalone from the internationally best selling author of Bad Romeo, Broken Juliet, and Wicked Heart.

Review

Mister Romance really took me by surprise. Having never read this author before, I've been curious about her work since seeing her Starcrossed series gain such success. I think what really caught me off guard the most was how much humor was infused into this story. Eden and her sister Ash were a bottomless well of belly laughs. Their teasing and witty sarcastic conversations were enough to keep me turning the pages eager for more. Throw in the ever elusive and mysterious Max Riley, and you have a recipe for hours of fun. This was not a short read, the page count hits over 400 pages. But I never felt as if it was dragging with these very well developed and likable characters.

Mister Romance is about a woman who doesn't do romance and a man who makes his living off of it. But it's more to him than a means to support himself. The catalyst that pointed him to his career ran deeper than purely selfish monetary gain. (Though, his prices are exorbitant.) However, we don't find out what's behind the man of many masks until much later. When Eden discovers New York's biggest secret, she's a woman on a mission. Max is her ticket out of her dead-end job at the entertainment website Pulse. If she can pull off an expose on Max and reveal his high society client list, it would launch her floundering career.

What’s he providing to these rich housewives of NYC that their million-dollar lifestyles and powerful husbands aren’t? That’s the big question. And if you figure out the answer, it’s going to be one hell of a story.”

What I really liked about the plot was the fact that their relationship didn't grow from her deceit. Max was as sharp as they come and always three steps ahead of her attempts to infiltrate his business. He knew right from the very start what her game was with him and he was upfront with her about what he knew. There was no entrapment or duplicity going on while their feelings were forming. This is something that tends to bother me in general. On the opposing side, I did feel as if Max was a bit too hard to read for my taste for much of the book. Even past the halfway point, it was hard to get a handle on what his true emotions and reactions were towards Eden. Because life was the ultimate stage and he was the star player, I was having to distinguish what was real.

Eden was one tough woman to crack. She was carrying loads of resentment and hurt from her past, and that was a heavy burden to overcome. As we see Max start to open up to her, she held her heart behind a locked door, unwilling to share the key. Not only is she distrustful of him because of his career choices, as a man she couldn't trust him any more than the losers she gives her time to. She's made a habit of keeping all of her relationships casual, with men who aren't a risk to her peace of mind. But Max is able to see through her defense mechanisms and show her that risk is worthwhile when the reward is worth fighting for.

He cups my face and urges me to look into his eyes. “There’s one important difference between him and me.”“Which is?”“I have no idea how he treated you like you were invisible. When I’m with you, you’re all I see.”

As Max's history is finally revealed, understanding dawns about why he's chosen his unusual career path. Not only owning up to his past mistakes, he was trying to make amends the only way he knew how. Trying to make a difference and become a person that he could be proud of. And though Eden's eyes are opened as well, it may be too late to back out of this story that her future in journalism hinges on. Honestly, I wasn't sure how these two would realistically overcome the situation they found themselves in, but I think the author pulled it off with flying colors. All of my initial questions over Max's motivations and emotions were laid to rest.

I was extremely impressed with Leisa Rayven's storytelling abilities, and her capability in creating realistically human characters in a very out of the ordinary plot. This book was unpredictably funny, super flirty, fast-paced, and high on entertainment value. Without a doubt, I would read more in the future from this author, and most especially any future books in this series. She's hooked a new reader in me, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

I’m not supposed to be here.

Death has come for me more than once, and each time it’s been a boy who’s
stood between me and my final breath.

I called him Christopher when he saved me as a child. When he came into my
life again, only months ago, I knew him as Wes. Just as he did the time
before, he disappeared the moment he made sure I was out of harm’s way; as
if I didn’t need any more saving.

This time, though, death left me with a reminder of how powerful it is. I
know it meant to strip me of my spirit again, but it failed.

Even so, I know I need Wes to survive. Our souls are woven together
somehow, our every breath in sync. I feel it, even though everyone says I
shouldn’t.

The world thinks he’s missing.
His loved ones don’t want to believe he’s dead.
Only I know just how special he is.

I’m going to find him and bring him home, where he belongs. Together,
we’ll face impossible—we’ll rewrite our ending.

EXCERPT

FINN

She sits quietly as I eat, and shakes her head when I offer her a sandwich section. Because I’m hungry, and because I don’t like the idea of her having to wait for me to eat, I wolf down my food. The brownie follows with a few, quick bites.

Wiping my hands on a napkin, I set the plate and empty can on a side table, and then let out a contented sigh. “Thanks. I needed that.”

Her smile is small and quick. “I should have fed you as soon as you got here.”

“I’m good now.”

Chess braces her hands on the seat and leans forward to watch her feet as we slowly rock the swing. Silence descends, thick and awkward, and for the first time in her presence, I’m at a loss for words.

I don’t know this girl. Not really, and yet I’ve inserted myself into her life with a determination I usually reserve for winning games. Except I have no endgame here. I told her I want to be friends. But how does that work for us?

Our friends and lives couldn’t be any more different. Parties for me are self-congratulatory events, filled with people whose one focus seems to be bolstering my ego, followed by me searching for a quick hookup. And my friends are all part of football in some way. We talk football or sports. It’s a narrow focus life, but it’s my comfort zone. That chafes too, knowing I live a life that seems wild and free to outsiders but is actually small and structured on the inside.

The silence has stretched too long. I should go. But I don’t move. If I go, I know it will be the end of whatever this is. Embarrassment will have me avoiding seeking her out again. Likely, she’ll do the same. And that will be that.

The knowledge sits like a stone on my chest.

“I’m sorry about my friends,” Chess says. “They can be uncomfortably brazen.”

“So can mine.” I shrug. “Your friends are…fun.”

Her lips pull tight. “They can be. But they were definitely giving me—and by extension—you shit tonight.” She bites her bottom lip. “I don’t think they know what to make of you.”

“So I wasn’t imagining things.”

“’Fraid not.”

The novel sensation of being a fish tossed into the wrong pond grows. I’ve taken away Chess’s fun by coming here, and I’m sorry for it.

“I shouldn’t have asked you to come here,” Chess says in a low voice.

She’s only echoing my thoughts but the stone sitting on my chest pushes harder against my ribs.

Chess makes a small sound, as if she’s trying to laugh but can’t. “Parties suck when you arrive halfway through and don’t know anyone.”

“I know you,” I point out quietly.

She turns and the porch light illuminates her face. Green eyes met mine and hold, as a slow, true smile curls over her cherry lips. Something inside of me shifts and slides. I want to kiss Chester Copper. Haul her onto my lap and make out with her like we’re teenagers hiding out at our parents’ party. But that’s not what she invited me here for.

“I wanted to see you,” she confesses in that husky morning voice that goes straight to my cock. She turns away and stares out into the darkness. “It’s weird, you know? But hanging out with you was so unexpected it kind of felt like I imagined the whole thing.”

I know exactly what she means. My hand settles next to hers, close enough that our pinkies touch. That small point of contact sparks along my skin, makes me want to move closer. I hold steady because I don’t trust myself not to act. “I wanted to see you too,” I tell her. “It’s been a long fucking day.”

I hadn’t planned to admit that, but it feels good to tell her.

Chess eases back against the seat and then curls her fingers over mine with a light squeeze. The unexpected touch holds all my attention. It’s nothing more than a simple offer of comfort, and here I am twitching in my seat as if she’d cupped my dick instead. I’m in so much trouble here because this woman is getting to me in ways I don’t know how to navigate. But I don’t pull away. Not one fucking chance of that.

Chess speaks, pulling me attention back to our conversation. “So tell me about it.”

I can’t remember the last time anyone asked me to tell them about my day. Likely, no one ever has.

So I do. And with every word that leaves my mouth, a little bit more of my stress eases. No, I don’t yet truly know Chess. And yes, our lives are different. But there’s no way I’m ending this. Because when it’s just her and me, everything else falls away. I’m not going to let myself forget that again.

Review

The Hot Shot is my sixth Kristen Callihan book, and with each new reading experience, she enforces my love of her witty writing. Sharp, and delightfully entertaining, her stories are pure fun from beginning to end. This story was no exception, in fact, it may have claimed a spot in my top three favorites of her books. And that's really saying something, because my affection runs deep for her past characters.

Chess and Finn charmed me right from page one, growing on me even more as I got to know them. And a naked calendar photoshoot? It's not your average first meeting, but Chess held her own and dealt with the team like a pro. She had spirit, fire, and put them all at ease with her straight-forward attitude. Finn didn't leave a favorable impression, he was a bit too cocky for her liking and stuck his foot in his mouth. But I sure loved to see the sparks fly when she gave it back to him just as quick and easy.

I really loved the fact that they had that immediate attraction to each other despite their outward appearances. He's the pretty boy of the team, and she had a harder edge with the goth girl look going for her. They saw past surface superficiality to the core of what mattered.

Like an inevitable collision with a charging linebacker, I suspect Ms. Chess Copper is going to take me down and make me feel it. Bitch of it is, I’m not sure if I hate the idea or kind of like it.

Finn is working through his mysterious feelings from the start, shuffling, rearranging what he's always thought he was looking for in a woman. It's not instantaneous, his knowledge that he wants a relationship with her. But he knows that she's real. She puts him at ease, and allows him to be more comfortable, more himself that he ever has with anyone before. To him, there is nothing more valuable as honesty and comfort. Living in the public eye, he never knows people's true intentions towards him. Unfortunately, Chess has had it with the dating game, and never was a girl who could do casual hook ups. Which lands them firmly in the friend zone.

I don’t know this girl. Not really, and yet I’ve inserted myself into her life with a determination I usually reserve for winning games. Except I have no endgame here. I told her I want to be friends. But how does that work for us?

I loved seeing these two work through their feelings and navigate what was growing between them. There was tenderness, laughter, and a growing certainty on Finn's side that he needed to do whatever it took to convince Chess that what they had was worth fighting for. He was everything in a swoon worthy hero you could ask for. Fiercely protective, determined and persistent, supportive, and most of all, he got her. He may have had some hang ups and heartbreak from a past experience, but that didn't prevent him from recognizing how special she was and how perfectly they fit.

There was a minor conflict with his ex, but it wasn't frustrating or overdone. As well, Chess had lingering fears because of the impact of her parents' impulsiveness on her life growing up. Leading with her heart rather than her head is a challenge that she has to learn to overcome. But they work through everything together, and always with maturity.

I did not know what true joy was until Finn. Every emotion I’m capable of having amps up with him. I feel. I live. I breathe. The world is more real when he is there. He wants to just be. Not think. I don’t know if I can. But, for Finn, I’ll try.

Simply put, these two were the entire package. Sweet, sexy, and so adorably funny with their wisecracks and teasing. I ate up every minute of their relationship with a silly smile on my face. This is the definition of what a feel-good sports romance is supposed to be. Kristen Callihan has done it again, and I can only hope that she doesn't finish this series anytime soon, because I won't know what to do with myself when there are no more books to look forward to. If you're on the fence about reading this, do not hesitate. Jump on over here to the party. You don't want to miss a minute.

Excerpt

“Ladies, you left without saying goodbye,” he playfully admonishes, holding his hand over his heart like he’s wounded by our callous departure.

“We’re so sorry,” Erin purrs, stepping out from behind me to plant her palm on his forearm.

Sam briefly flicks his eyes to her before shifting to pin them on me, their sea green depths shimmering with something akin to hunger.

“Olivia, can we talk for a moment?”

Fits of giggles erupt from both Sin and Erin. Yes, these are my best friends, although I’m seriously reconsidering that at this moment as the two grown-ass women act like a bunch of star-struck teenagers.

Hanging my head in sheer embarrassment, I mutter, “Would you please leave us alone?”

Sam confidently inches closer to me, then it hits me—my friends’ lame outburst has diverted my attention from the real concern. Sam. I’m wildly turned on by this hot young man standing before me.

Stepping back, out of the circle of light, I’m plunged into darkness. Moving into the same spot I just vacated, his striking frame is illuminated by the fluorescent glow from above, like a spotlight beaming down on the main attraction. If I didn’t know he was a chef, I’d swear he was a model.

“I don’t usually do this,” he says.

“Do what?” I’m confused, my mind reeling and heart battering.

“Chase women.”

I snort. Real attractive, Olivia.

“Is that what you’re doing?” I quirk an eyebrow in question. He nods once, his smile still in place. “Well actually, come to think of it, of course you don’t. They usually fall at your feet,” I sarcastically add at the memory of the evening’s revolving door of women surrounding the kitchen. I bet tonight was an average turnout for him.

“Fall at my feet?” He chuckles, one side of his lips tipping up in amusement. “I must’ve missed that because I don’t remember any women at my feet. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have forgotten that.”

“I guess we see things differently,” I quip. “What do you want, Sam?”

“I want you to go out with me.”

Didn’t he get the hint? I shot him down in the restaurant. Damn, he’s beautiful. He could have anyone—so why me?

REVIEW

I just recently started getting into K. Bromberg's books again and I'm kicking myself for wandering away for so long. This was yet another excellent read by her and I was really impressed with the depth of emotion it was able to evoke. The Player is not your typical fluffy sports romance, but doesn't have an overtly angsty tone either. It was the perfect balance of romance, heat, and witty humor.

Easton is the cocky golden boy of baseball, yet not obnoxiously so. He's filled with confidence, and an abundance of energy and magnetism and he isn't afraid to use it to his advantage. What he isn't prepared for is to be assigned to the new trainer who immediately puts him in his place and sees past his star power. After getting injured, the pressure is on for him to return to his position in the time allotted to him, or his career may be in jeopardy. However, no one's expectations are as high as his father, baseball legend Cal Wylder.

Easton and Cal's relationship is one of the main points of conflict. Living in his father's shadow is not a comfortable place to be, and fighting for his father's respect seems to be a losing battle. Though he is gifted at the game, works relentlessly to improve himself, and gives everything he has, he always seems to come up short in his father's eyes. This feeling of inadequacy has leaked into the love of the game until he's started to wonder whether he's playing for the right reasons anymore.

It’s fucking beautiful. A blessing and a curse. My pleasure and my pain. The only thing I’ve ever known. The only thing I’ve ever wanted to do.

I really sympathized with Easton. His father wasn't necessarily mean spirited, but selfish and unable to open up to his son. And it definitely seemed to me that there is more going on underneath the surface with his father that hopefully will come to light in the following book.

Scout Dalton is a no nonsense woman who doesn't pull any punches. But Easton has her rattled and running scared very quickly. The instant attraction and desire he makes her feel is overwhelming and unwanted. Her one focus and priority needs to be getting him back in fine physical shape and back in the game. For more reasons than she's willing to share with anyone. Quietly suffering and with no one to turn to, it hasn't been easy to put up the strong front.

But with Easton, they seem to slide into a natural and comforting dynamic without even trying. Add onto that their passionate, off the charts, combustible heat? Suddenly Eason's game involves a lot more than the one on the field. He's determined to gain Scout's time, her trust, and most importantly, her heart.

I’m putting myself out on a limb for a woman who wants to run, when for the life of me, I’ve never been one to stay. But I’m not going anywhere.

I absolutely loved this couple together. Easton was firm and decisive in his resolve to make her his. And Scout was tough, intelligent, and a strong heroine that could hold her own against anyone. I appreciated the lack of unnecessary drama from their secret relationship. I was a little worried that would crop up, but thankfully not. There is a cliffhanger at the end, so be prepared. It wasn't a horribly uncomfortable one, but be aware that everything will be revealed and come to a conclusion in the final installment, The Catch, in June.

If you love sports romance, this is a must read. The characters are well thought out and engaging, the storyline fast paced and sensual. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this couple finds their HEA in the conclusion.
