Eliza's Review: Reach Me (Wrecked) by J.L. Mac

Reach Me

Title: Reach Me
Series: Yes
Author: J.L. Mac
Release Date: 31st July , 2014
Rating: 3 "You know how to reach me" Stars

It’s a well-known fact that single parenting doesn’t allow for much dating. Over the past nine years, Lindsay Fuller’s heart has been monopolized by her son, Trey, and she’s perfectly content with that. But with her 30th birthday looming like a black cloud, Lindsay worries that her chances at a happily ever after are next to nil. After all, she’s no sorority girl. She’s no supermodel, either. She’s a Plain Jane single mom with a less than desirable career, a pen pal obsession, and an extremely overbearing younger brother. Financial trouble sends Lindsay’s already hectic life into a tailspin, setting events in motion that will change everything, namely her “single” status. Learning to reach for what she wants catalyzes an epic internal struggle that she has no hopes of overcoming. The question is, will Lindsay give love a shot; and, more importantly, will it be worth it?

Ask single mother Lindsay Fuller what she thinks of Happiness and she'll tell you it doesn't exist. It's an illusion, a sleight of the hand, like magic.

 photo 0E6B9C63-F2D9-43C1-9305-A1B0271F4C11_zpsxin2yhyz.gif

To be fair to her she does have a pretty strong case. After falling pregnant and being abandoned by her college boyfriend she had no choice but to drop out and return home. For the last nine years she's been raising her son Trey; with some help her brother Brian, her father and best friend Maggie. And if all that wasn't hard enough she's facing impending unemployment and the threat of eviction.

But there are something's in her life she can count on, or rather someone... Russ. Her pen pal, friend, confidant of the last 10 years. Not through Russ' lack of trying they communicate through chat rooms, emails and texts only. Reluctant to potentially ruin what they have Lindsay refuses Russ' attempts to take their relationship further.

I'm too scared. Scared of heartbreak, of course, but scared of ruining one of the most meaningful relationships I've ever been lucky enough to hold on to.

Fear of the past repeating itself holds her back from moving forward, until one day fate has other plans for her. I won't spoil how they meet... even though it was a little predictable, they do and Russ has a proposition for her. He wants 30 days.. 30 days to take care of her, to show her how good they can be. As much as Lindsay resists she finds herself swept up in the fairy tale she thought she'd never have, Russ is charming and every part as wonderful as she dared to imagine.

Although I sympathise with Lindsay, her actions at the end just *sigh* annoyed me and whilst I enjoyed the last 50% much better than the first; As I said it was a little predictable. But hey, every story has to start somewhere and I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of Lindsay and Russ'.

Christie's review: Six of Hearts by L.H. Cosway

Title: Six of Hearts
Series: Standalone
Author: L.H. Cosway
Release Date: July 26, 2014
Rating:5 stars
Cliffhanger: No

I think in triangles. You think in straight lines.

I show you a table and make you believe it’s a chair.

Smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand, misdirection. I trick and deceive.

But most of all, I put on a good show.

The world thinks I killed a man, but I didn’t. Bear with me. It’s all a part of the plan.

Revenge is what I want. I want it for me and I want it for her. I want it for all six of us.

She doesn’t remember me, but she’s the reason for everything. She’ll be my prize at the end of all this – if I can hold onto my willpower, that is. Maybe I’ll slip up a little, have a taste, just a small one.

So go ahead and pick a card. Come inside and see the show. Look at my hands, look so closely that you can’t see what’s happening while you’re so focused on looking. I’ll be destroying your world from right here in the spotlight.

You’ll never see me coming until it’s too late.

I’ve only got one heart, and after I’ve pulled off my grand deception I’ll hand it right to her.

So, sit back, relax, and let my girl tell you our story. You’re in for one hell of a ride.

How do I ever write a review that properly expresses how special this book is? By now, if you've read an L.H. Cosway book, you know that her books are remarkable because of their distinct individuality. There's nothing else out there like her. They are such a welcome contribution to the romance genre when there are so many books that lack imagination and ingenuity and just follow the trend of what's "hot" at the moment. There are so many "passable" books but few that stick with us and give us chills and thrills we can revisit again and again. I love L.H. Cosway's books for their one of a kind characters-characters you come to care for and stories that are extraordinary. At one point, you kind of wonder... surely every book can't be this good....? So far, I have to say,the only thing that's predictable about her books is that they're unpredictably good. I always think I'm prepared for how much I'll enjoy it, but I always finish feeling slightly dazed. And thrilled.

What I loved about this book? Well, pretty much everything. I'm not going into too much detail with the plot because the best thing about this story is discovering it for yourself. Jay has a mysterious agenda, a razor sharp mind, and sex appeal coming out of his pores. Matilda is absolutely stunned when her world suddenly intersects with this beautiful man. He seems almost too charming and perfect to be real. But is their meeting a coincidence, or something more?

The most surprising thing to her however, is the fact that Jay as worldly and confident as he is, wants to spend all his time with her. After renting the spare room in their house, he seems to genuinely like her sarcastic, offbeat sense of humor and her retro sense of style.

"When I look at you, my head clears. Most times there's a storm up in this brain of mine, but then you walk into a room and I can focus."

She's dating challenged though and she doesn't have a lot of experience or confidence with men. So a man like Jay seems so far out of her league it's laughable. But to him, she means way more to him than she could ever imagine.

There are secrets and half truths, danger and
retribution. There are fantastical tricks and clever, strategic plans. And in order to protect her, he can't be completely honest with her. He tries to back off for her own good, but staying away from this woman is pretty near to impossible. They have this crazy, overpowering attraction and a relaxed fit without even trying.

I loved Matilda so much! She was one of my favorite heroines. She's because of her tragic past, she tends to fear taking chances and stepping outside of the box. But she has a giving heart and she's a true romantic.

I want an epic love, like you see in the movies. I want it so desperately that it fills my heart when I even think of the possibility of it.

Little does she know that her story is only starting to unfold.

He is hers and she is his. And powerful, unswerving Jay isn't going to let anyone or anything come between them. The stakes are high...and they're gambling everything. How will she react when she learns about his past and his true motivations?

I adored this book, cover to cover! To me, it was perfection. I felt so close to these characters I couldn't decide whether I wanted to speed read to get to their happy ending and just inhale the book, or savor it as slowly as possible to make it last. I tried to slow it down, but I was so engrossed, it was impossible. I know that Jay and Matilda will stick with me a long time. They're kind of stuck right there in my heart now. I can't even complain too much about that nasty little book hangover I got. Read this book-I promise you won't regret it.

Step right up and meet Jay Fields: Illusionist. Mentalist. Trickster.

I think in triangles.
You think in straight lines.

☆ 5 MAGICAL STARS ☆

Jay Fields. Mysterious man that will completely sweep you of your feet. Steal your heart and soul. Make you his. Make you believe real magic exist. He’s illusionist. Trickster. Mentalist. He’s a man who creates magic and throws the whole world upside down. There is no such a word as impossible in his vocabulary. And he’s the one that made Matilda completely, utterly, totally in love with him.

“We both know that mystery is better than truth. So why not live with the magic?"

I’m still amazed by this story, it was perfect, so wonderfully good, so so fantastic! Ah, Six of Hearts is definitely novel worth gushing about and I will absolutely pour in this review all of my still fangirling heart. In the book world full of the old same and boring trends, L. H Cosway created absolutely unique, dazzlingly epic romance that not only did blown me away but stole my whole heart.

The impressive romance between Matilda and Jay is not usual ‘boy meets girl – they fall in love and have their happily ever after’ book. Nope. This story is SUSPENSFUL and SEXY. As well as refreshing and full of surprises read, that doesn’t get boring even for a half of a minute.

It’s a wonderful mix of passion and intensity. Not only the reader is invested in what’s happening between two main characters, but is also craving to know how Jay will seek out his revenge; what’s really going on in the mind of his?

“When I look at you, my head clears. Most times there’s a storm up in this brain of mine, but then you walk into a room and I can focus.”

From the beginning till the end the author managed to give me a new additional piece of soul and pair of wings to fly. I should have expected that, as I know other Cosway’s work, and she always made me feel so much, yet a memory of how good of an author she is, is nothing in comparison to actually sensing it again. What’s more, I just feel like I have to screaming the top of my lungs that I loved everything that was part of this novel, and that rarely happens these days.

“His lips descend on my lips, hard and frenzied, and I can feel every ounce of his passion. I moan into the kiss, his tongue sliding into my mouth with intent, caressing mine, claiming me.”

So strong, so powerful and so passionate – Six of Hearts is not your average, typical romance story. It is thrilling, fast paced story about love and revenge. It’s intense, remarkable and absolutely captivating. From the plot like no other to the beautiful, complex characters, this book is out-and-out perfection.

Cover Reveal and Giveaway: Ten Below Zero by Whitney Barbetti

TenBelowZeroeBook

Title: Ten Below Zero

Author: Whitney Barbetti

Release Date: August 28, 2014

Genre: New Adult Romance

SYNOPSIS:

“In here,” he said, pushing on the skin above my heart, “you’re ten below zero. And you’re closer to death than I am.”

My name is Parker. My body is marked with scars from an attack I don’t remember. I don’t want to remember. I choose to live my life by observation, not through experience. While people are laughing and kissing and connecting, I’m in the corner. Watching them live. I’m indifferent to everything, everyone. The only emotion I feel with any kind of depth is annoyance, and I feel it often.

A text message sent to the wrong number proves to be my undoing.

His name is Everett, but I call him rude. He’s pushy, he’s arrogant, he crowds my personal space, and worst of all: he makes me feel.

He chooses to wear all black, all the time, as if he’s waiting to attend a funeral. Probably because he is.

Everett is dying. And he’s spending his final days living, truly living. In doing so, he’s forcing me to feel, to heal. To come face to face with the demons I suppressed in my memory.

He hurts me, he fulfills me, he completes me. And still, he's dying.
