Sweet Rome - Tillie Cole

Add to Goodreads

You met Romeo Prince in the Amazon & USA Today bestselling novel, Sweet Home. Now hear the story from his lips: unbarred, uncensored and raw to the bone.

It makes me laugh when I hear that folk think Mol and I rushed into it too fast, spouting that we couldn't possibly have felt what we did for each other in such a short space of time. I say, how the hell would they know? We made it, didn't we? She became my whole life, didn't she? And as for my folks not being real, being true? Tell that to me aged ten, eleven, twelve — damn, all my bastard life — when I was never enough, when I was beaten until I bled for being too good at football and not being everything they'd dreamed: the perfectly dutiful son. Tell that to thousands of kids around the world getting wailed on by asshole parents for whatever stupid reason; tell them that evil don't exist in their eyes.

Fuck Romeo and Juliet: this is the story of me and my girl, from my lips. No mushy sentiment, no cheese, just the plain, hard truth, and, because I'm feeling generous, I'm going to let you in on more of our story too.

Sweet Rome is a New Adult Companion Novel to Sweet Home — contains adult content, sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18
 and up.

Tillie Cole Author PicTillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.

Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Review: Come to Me Quietly by A. L Jackson

17306969

Title: Come To Me Quietly
Series: Closer To You #1
Author: A. L Jackson
Release Date: January 7th, 2014
Rating: 3.5 stars
Cliffhanger: No

Aleena Moore is content with her life. She has goals and dreams and an easy smile. She also has a secret she holds locked inside.

Jared Holt believes he doesn’t deserve to love or be loved. He destroys everything he touches. Haunted by the mistake that shattered his life, he’s fled from the memory of that pain.

Jared doesn’t know why he’s compelled to return, but finds himself drawn back to the place where it all began. The exact place where it ended. When he runs into his childhood best friend, Aleena’s older brother Christopher, he agrees to share Christopher and Aleena’s apartment while he looks for a place of his own.

Aleena is no longer the little girl Jared remembers from his past and evokes feelings in him he never wanted to feel again. Terrified of destroying her, he fights to keep her away. But her touch is something he can’t resist—the touch that sealed his fate.

Their pasts are intertwined and their futures uncertain. The only truths they know are the secrets they whisper in the night.

"It was always you, Jared. Always. I can't remember a day in my life when I didn't love you."

Everybody seems to love this story and while I do get why it holds so much appeal and leaves readers extremely pleased, it didn’t fulfill me as much. I did enjoy it, but I didn’t love it. I have no idea why this happened, as in theory I should be in awe with this book, but I am not satisfied. I honestly craved a little bit more. What went wrong then?

A L Jackson wrote very emotional novel, Come To Me Quietly is absolutely bleeding with deep, painful feelings and it was very hard not to relate with characters. I ached for them, was crossing my fingers for Aly and Jared and cheering loudly to finally get them together. However this story was not one of those completely unforgettable ones – I have read similar novels and in my eyes Come To Me Quietly didn’t have anything different from them, which didn’t make it wowing.

Usually I have a soft stop for tortured heroes. But Jared made me furious more times than I can count and his constant need to run for the hills was annoying. Of course, he had few wonderful moments that made my heart flutter, but I just couldn’t get past his whining. Almost every second he was drowning in his past, and while I do understand why, I felt like he needed to get some balls. Aly seemed like more reasonable character.

"I ruin everything I touch, Aly, and I refuse to ruin you."

That made putting up with Jared was tiresome. I wanted him to be selfish for just one minute. I wanted to shake him, yell at him, heal him. He made me feel like a bipolar person. One minute I adored him (he was sweet, tender, loving, amazing) and then once again he felt guilty and not good enough (blah, blah, blah. I really wanted to hurt him with frying pan so he could finally understand that past doesn't matter and only today's actions count.)

“I don’t get to have this. I already told you… you deserve someone who can love you, someone who will be good for you, and you know that’s not me.”

Besides that I really liked how the story went. A L Jacksons writing was flawless and very easy to connect with. The romance made me swoon couple of times and some scenes were pretty hot.

Overall, Come To Me Quietly was a three and half star for me. I’m somewhere in the middle with my opinion. There were things I immensely enjoyed and some that left me shaking my head in wonder.

Nevertheless, Jackson wrote strong novel, and judging from other reviews so far, she is already leaving a great impression on other readers. I can honestly recommend it for those of you who adore ‘in love with brother’s best friend’ romance and don’t mind tortured hero.

Review: Two To Tango by Mimi Strong

19502997

Title: Two To Tango
Series: No.
Author: Mimi Strong
Release Date: 10th January, 2014
Rating: 2. 5 stars
Cliffhanger: No.

From the USA Today bestselling author of the Peaches Monroe series and Borrowed Billionaire, comes a hilarious new story of unstoppable passion.

Skye Evans is a former stripper, trying to live a "good" life teaching dance to kids. She also hates rich people. Really hates them.

Charlie Ward is rich. He's twenty-nine, and caught between partying and growing up enough to have a relationship with someone besides his best friend.

When Charlie finds Skye crashing a party at the exclusive country club he owns, he's captivated by her long, beautiful dancer's legs. He takes her on a private tour of the pool, where they discover perfect chemistry.

Unfortunately for these two lonely lovers, Skye still hates rich people, and Charlie's still rich.

Charlie and Skye fit together so well when they're naked, but they must find creative ways to get over their differences and let themselves love

While Two To Tango holds a definite spark that made me go on, I wasn’t swept of my feet nor did I feel pleased with the story. I guess, for the most part, I could close my eyes and forget about few issues I had, but there were way to many times that made me shake my head and almost laugh at how hysterical and over the top some scenes where.

There was so many conflicting things and drama, that I can only described them by a single sigh and shrugged shoulders. That’s how I feel about this story. It wasn’t memorable enough to sing praises about it nor was it so horrible I want to rant.

Skye is former stripper and tries to get right on the track. She wants to leave her ugly past behind and work like any other ‘honest’ person. Now, as a dance teacher in community center, Skye has a minimum pay and barely makes the end meet. She hates rich people. She thinks they are assholes and nothing more.

Charlie is rich, or well it is his father that has the real money. When he meets Skye he cannot stop thinking about her.

I ended up not really feeling a connection between the two main characters Skye and Charlie, and when they ‘fell in love’ there was no awww moments for me or even a slight giddiness I always feel when characters finally get together. I wasn't interested in Skye and Charlie together….

The eroticism of the story was on a good level, though I expected more. I felt as I have read the same sex scenes all over and over again. Charlie didn’t make me hot and bothered, and his constant want to fix problems as everything in life has to be solved was very frustrating. For a twenty nine year old man, he didn’t act his age, especially near his father.

Two To Tango was not bad novel, I don’t hate it or have many negative feelings toward it , I just wasn’t captivated enough to say something remotely nice about it. Mimi Strong wrote a book that didn’t quite have the pull to made me love it, of course other readers can like it very much. It just wasn't for me.

Our love is on his terms. He contacts me only through notes − unpredictable and untraceable. When we meet, he can touch me, but I’m not allowed to touch him. When we make love, it’s only after I have been bound and blindfolded. It’s the only time I truly feel alive. Which is why I play along with it. For now.

Caden Thaine is the most sinfully beautiful man I have ever seen. But more than that, his touch sets me on fire. And dear God, do I ache for him. I don’t know where he lives or even what he does. But this doesn’t scare me. My only fear is that one day his messages will stop.

I know he’s hiding something. But that’s okay. I am hiding things too. Like my real name and... who I really am. But what we have is enough. Sort of. And everything works.

Until I decide to follow him.

Soon our dark pasts will collide and I will discover just how much we are both bound by lies.

Adult romantic suspense. +18 years

“You… You’re not mad that I’m not wearing the dress?”

He laughs and the sound rolls over me, silk over gravel. “No. I wouldn’t get mad if you said you didn’t want to do something I asked you to.” He grins and leans closer. “I would instead make it so that you didn’t want to say no.”

His finger strokes along the back of my neck, a light touch that awakens my nerve endings all the way down my back. I have to fight not to visibly shudder. Stupid carnal needy body. I can’t deny that a part of me wants to say yes to him. But he can’t know this. I have to regain my control over this conversation and myself.

“Ha!” I scoff. “You’re so sure of yourself.”

“You think I’m being unnecessarily arrogant.”

“You are.”

“You just think that because you don’t know what’s coming.” He leans his face in close to mine. So close I can feel his breath rushing around my cheeks. His green eyes crackle with fire. “You’ll say yes to me, kitten. You’ll say yes to me and only me. You know how I know?”

I shake my head, trying to swallow but failing. The heat emanating off him is so intense it has caused my mouth to go dry. With his nose he nudges my cheek to the side so he can access my neck.

His voice, so low and hot, fucks my ear. “I’m going to make you feel so good that it’ll ruin you for all other men.”

Hanna began to write at the tender age of seven, starting with a daring and questionable autobiography entitled Go Suck a Lemon. Perhaps it was a little before its time.

After leaving school she agreed with everyone who said she needed to get a degree and a real job to become a proper adult. She kept writing as a hobby. After starting (and never finishing) several degrees and switching from multiple careers, she finally decided that being a real adult was overrated. In 2012, she sold everything, moved to Europe and began to write full-time.

Eternally restless, Hanna has lived in Indonesia, Australia, Germany and Scotland. She is currently residing in England.

She is addicted to coffee and chocolate and would one day like to own a dragon.

Hanna Peach is the author of the Dark Angel urban fantasy series and Bound romantic suspense series. Angelblood (Dark Angel #4) and Bound by Fear (Bound #2) are due for publication in 2014.

Title: Waiting On My Own Reason
Author: Devon Ashley
Release Date: 21st January, 2014

She loves him. He loves her. But sometimes love just isn't that easy...

Everything happens for a reason. I just wish I knew the why behind mine.

Five years ago, graduation wasn’t what it was supposed to be. Publicly humiliated, Melanie was more than happy to kiss off her high school sweetheart. But in doing so, she lost more than just her boyfriend, she lost the only other guy she truly cared for – his best friend, Shane.

Shane loathed the idea of returning to his small hometown. He just wanted to get in, help his best friend manage a legal matter, and get the hell back out again. But he wasn’t expecting to run into the one girl who got away, who always held a piece of his heart despite the animosity that lingered. Melanie could’ve been the one, but after everything that happened, trust was a serious issue.

She just wanted to do right by her son. He just wanted to do right by his best friend. And just when they thought they could find the strength to forgive the sins of the past, more secrets and lies bubble to the surface, threatening to push them irrevocably apart.

Barnes & Noble       Amazon       Goodreads       Kobo

I gave Shane one last kiss before pushing against him. He followed my lead, but it was clear by the look on his face that he didn’t want to go. “We need to wait for Jake to fall asleep first,” I explained.

One of his eyebrows lifted, and I could just hear the silent you’ve got to be effing kidding me. I should’ve known by the twisted smile that he had no intention of obeying. In one swift motion he pulled his shirt over his head, balled it up and tossed it onto the chair. And damn if I didn’t like looking at him, his abs all firm and defined, not to mention the muscular curvature of his arms. It was still weird seeing him standing before me like that, half-naked, half-cocked. Just for me.

And it was completely evil that he was baiting me with that rock hard body.

My hands found their way to my hips, just as he asked with a not-so innocent voice, “What?”

“Here I was just thinking all these wonderful things about you and now you’re trying to strip down before we can have sex.”

His hands casually held in the air, he explained, “I was hot.”

     “It’s seventy degrees in here.”

His hands went to his cotton pants, thumbing the cinched band, preparing for a total strip down. Gawd, how I secretly wanted him to do it, but for some reason, the word stop came out of my mouth. At least I agreed with myself when I said, “That is so not fair.”

Neither was the way the left side of his mouth curled up, smiling wickedly as his eyes swept across my body. “You’re right. Your ogling is making me uncomfortable. You should remove your top to compensate.”

I bit into my lower lip and shook my head, my arms crossing across my chest to better cover up. “I am so not sleeping with you right now. My little boy is still awake.”

He shrugged lightly, his eager eyes penetrating mine. “Doesn’t mean you can’t get naked.”

He grabbed the remote and turned the television on to an action film before tossing it back on the dresser. Then he moved to lock the door. When that twisted smile came within feet of me, I held my hand out between us. “Not a chance. He’ll hear us.”

He still kept coming, so I began backing up. “Oh, you’d be surprised how quiet I can be when I’m determined.”

Next thing I knew his cotton pants were on the floor. Did I say he was half-cocked? Well, he was fully cocked now.

Damn, he knew how to distract me. My back hit the wall, and in less than two seconds his body was trapping me against it, his mouth sucking on my left earlobe. Gawd…the tingles this man could make with just a single bite. “Well, what if I like to scream and moan, huh?” Hell, I was practically moaning just as I said it.

“Oh, I know you do, but it’s called self-control. Now would be a great time for you to practice it.”

“Self-control?” I scoffed playfully. Sardonically, I added, “Yeah, because you’re such a pro at it right now.”

His mouth paused just long enough to reply, “I never suggested that I practice it.”
