Blurb:

Casey Coffield has a growing list of personal flaws he keeps locked away in his head:
He’s never on time.
His list of IOUs to his best friend is endless.
Money is always short.
Goals are never in reach.

Oh, and he’s decided to add college drop-out to that list, too. He doesn’t really think that last one’s such a bad thing, but his family insists it is, so it stays on the list.

On paper, he’s a zero. But in person, when he’s mixing tracks for a sea of bodies at the hottest clubs and parties, he’s downright irresistible. Just-right stubble on his chin, body of a boxer and a smirk that stimulates all the right nerves—women have never been a problem. They flock to his swagger and fall for his charm…fast.

All except for this one.

Purple hair, gray eyes, a raspy voice and sass, Murphy Sullivan is a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll. And her and Casey? They have history. He can’t remember it, but she wrote a song about him—and it’s not exactly a love song. But it is good. Damn good. And uncovering her inspiration just might be the key to solving a few of his shortcomings—not to mention open doors to his own big break in the music industry.

But sometimes dreams get messy when they collide. Sometimes life changes patterns. A past paints the wrong picture and futures get cloudy. The only question that remains is who will you choose when the dust settles—you? Or the girl of your dreams?

About Ginger Scott
Ginger Scott is an Amazon-bestselling author of eight young and new adult
romances, including Waiting on the Sidelines, Going Long, Blindness, How
We Deal With Gravity, This Is Falling, You and Everything After, Wild
Reckless and The Girl I Was Before.

A sucker for a good romance, Ginger’s other passion is sports, and she
often blends the two in her stories. (She’s also a sucker for a hot quarterback, catcher, pitcher, point guard…the list goes on.) Ginger has been writing and editing for newspapers, magazines and blogs for more than 15 years. She has told the stories of Olympians, politicians, actors, scientists, cowboys, criminals and towns. For more on her and her work, visit her website at http://www.littlemisswrite.com.

When she's not writing, the odds are high that she's somewhere near a baseball diamond, either watching her son field pop flies like Bryce Harper or cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ginger lives in Arizona and is married to her college sweetheart whom she met at ASU (fork 'em, Devils).

In Your Dreams is the sixth book I've read by Ginger Scott and once again, another success. She is one of those authors for me that continue to write books that surprise me, entertain me, and make me one happy reader. Her Falling series characters in particular really stand out to me with their endearing charm. This book is considered a spinoff of that series, and you will see appearances of characters from The Girl I Was Before, but it can be read 100% as a standalone.

One of my absolute favorite things about this book was the heroine. This is a somewhat uncommon thing for me to say because often I'm more critical of them as opposed to the hero. I like my strong heroines, the confident, intelligent, and independent ones really endear themselves to me the most. Would I classify Murphy as strong? Yes, but she was still growing into that strength. I think what I loved the most about her was that she may have been dealt a tough hand, but she resolved to overcome it and found her confidence. She was quiet and shy, but she also wasn't afraid to speak her mind and demand respect.

Murphy is an absolute sweetheart. She's struggled through painful years in school being ridiculed for having a speech impediment. Her stutter was embarrassing and something that she slowly learned to conquer through music. Music gave her a voice, an outlet. It helped her to move from the shadows she protected herself in, to the spotlight. She only needed someone to really see her, and help her shine.

Casey is known as the screw-up. He's selfish, lazy, and undependable according to his disapproving family. To his friends, he's hopelessly inept at making his life run smoothly. But there was something admirable about his determination to follow his own path and chase his dream in the music business. He's a talented DJ who like Murphy, needs to get his foot in the door-and once he hears Murphy's stunning voice, he knows she's the one to help him get there. Even if her most popular song seems to be about....him? With a song titled, In Your Dreams Casey Coffield, there's no mistaking things.

She's been burned by him in the past, but the question is how? His self-centeredness has been so great that he doesn't even remember who she is or how he could have impacted her life. This was really riveting to me, seeing her disgust and rejection of his charm and not knowing what their history was. It really made me think about how a simple, seemingly insignificant moment can affect another person and change them.

Casey had to have persistence and patience to break through her defenses. She had to learn to stop living in the past and see Casey as he was now, rather than who he used to be.

I really delighted in seeing this couple discover each other and learn from each other. It was the kind of relationship that you'd least expect, but they helped one another grow and become better versions of themselves.

Maybe he isn't as selfish as everybody thinks-as I think. Maybe he just needs someone who's willing to walk through fire with him and hold him through the ugly parts. Maybe I'm stronger than I think.

There was another strong layer to the plot involving Casey's family. It was perfectly woven into the story, showing us his vulnerability while helping him evolve into the man he wanted to be. He's going through a very painful period that he must find the courage to face. He needs to learn acceptance, forgiveness, and the confidence to move from the past. Casey broke my heart with what he had to deal with, and the sacrifices he had to make.

This book is all about chasing your dreams, facing your failures, and finding love along the way. I loved both characters so much, they were flawed and sympathetic all at the same time in a way that felt very genuine. Even if you haven't read anything in Ginger Scott's Falling series, I would highly recommend reading this one. If you love books about musicians, this one gives a very original spin on your typical rockstar romances and was very refreshing in that aspect. Overall, this was the perfect book for me, at the perfect time. It gave me sweet and light, but it was also weighted with a solid and worthwhile message underneath it all.
