Patrycja's Review: Breaking Shaun by EM Abel

18331180

Title: Breaking Shaun
Series: Yes
Author: E. M Abel
Release Date: May 27, 2014
Rating: 4 stars
Cliffhanger:. No

Some men fall in love and hand their balls over to the first woman who keeps them interested—but not me. Surfing and my freedom are the only two things I’ve ever needed. Meaningless one-night stands are fun, but the drama and jealousy that follows them aren’t worth it.
Until I met Natalie, I never realized there were women who thought like me. She enjoys sex with no strings, and with a body like that, there isn’t a man around who doesn’t want a piece of her—including me.
But our friends and relatives all run in the same circles. And we all know friendship and sex leave a mess. Hearts always end up broken.
I know it.
But I still want her.

Sometimes, the things we want don’t always come easily. Every choice, every action has consequences that can change you.
They can change everything.
And no matter how fiercely guarded, even the strongest hearts can break

I’m a great romance fan who can’t say no to steamy, toe curling story with intense plot. Freeing Asia, a debut novel by E M Abel was definitely that kind of read, so I just had to get my hands on author’s next novel. I had to find out if she can at least reach the same level of good. And yes, she can! E.M drawn me into Shaun’s story very quickly. It was hard not to enjoy reading about this womanizer who finally found a woman created just for him.

Shaun is Asia’s brother who is incredible playboy, he is wham – bam – thank you ma’am kind of man. One day he meets Natalie. A redhead that doesn’t do relationship, just an occasional one night stand. In Shaun’s eyes they are perfect match, they could fuck, have lots of fan and he won’t have to worry about some crazy girl attaching to him. Perfect, right?

But, Natalie doesn’t seem interested in him. Even telling Shaun no several times, Natalie has a hard time to let him go.

“Don’t pretend you don’t want me to fuck you. I can see it in those beautiful eyes of yours. You’ve wondered what it would be like, haven’t you?”

This novel was pure fun. From the beginning to the end you can’t help yourself but be turned on and feel your panties melt of off you. It’s dangerous to read E.M Abel’s book when they are people watching you. What’s more, when I wasn’t turn on, I was laughing or swooning. So kudos for that!

Although, the plot was simple and not very original, banter between the characters and my love for them both made up for it. They were so smokin’ hot together and amusing.

"You wanna play dirty? I'll show you dirty."

I also had an issue with one plot twist at the end. It was something I did not expect and I was very disappointed it happened. In some ways it felt rushed or not very well thought. I wish it could go a different road, but I got what I got.

Anyway, I still liked this book much! It kept me on my toes, made me giggle and melt. Awesome! So be ready for a wonderful roller coaster!

Eliza's Review: Undeniable by Serena Grey

Title: Undeniable
Series: No
Author: Serena Grey
Release Date: May 16th, 2014
Rating: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:. No

“Protest all you want,” he says, “It won’t change the fact that this thing we have between us, it’s undeniable.”

Olivia Wilder fell in love with Jackson Lockewood the first time she laid her eyes on him. She gave him her heart and her love, and ended up alone, heartbroken and with scars that were almost too much for her to bear.

Seven years later, they cross paths again. Jackson is everything she remembers, only more irresistible. Underneath his disdain, his desire to possess her lights a response within her, but she has no desire to rekindle their past, or face the pain of all those years ago.

However, Jackson has no intention of making it easy for her, this time he’s determined to make her pay for the past, and for the future they should have had, even if it means destroying her in the process.

I'm a first time reader of Serena Grey and if all her books are as good as this I'm keeping her forever.

Undeniable is the beautifully written story of Olivia Wilder, how she came to fall in love with Jackson Lockewood and everything that happens in between.

The story moves from past to present but just enough to get a back story without being confusing or unnecessary, told from a single POV, I found it refreshing and Olivia was a likeable enough character to tell the story, she portrays such emotion i couldn't help but want to hear it. As successful as she is in her career as a well known photographer, there is is a sadness she carries with her:

It found it a wonderful read for my Sunday afternoon, it was the perfect mix and blend of love, loss, angst, unwavering attraction and steam.

Blog Tour: All Lined Up by Cora Carmack; Patrycja's Review

18505845

Title: All Lined Up
Series: A Rusk University #1 (every book in the series can be read as a standalone)
Author: Cora Carmack
Release Date: May , 2014
Rating: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:. No

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack follows up her trio of hits—Losing It, Faking It, and Finding It—with this thrilling first novel in an explosive series bursting with the Texas flavor, edge, and steamy romance of Friday Night Lights.

In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.

But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.

Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.

Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.

And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.

Sweet, sexy and seductive, All Lined Up is Cora Carmack in her best. A little bit of drama, lots of lots sexy and the couple worth swooning after, make it light, heart fluttering romance perfect in its own way. Fans of Carmack’s previous series will definitely be mesmerized by the first novel in A Rusk University Series and will quickly crave more.

In light, completely enjoyable New Adult style, the author delivers heart racing, sexy college romance you won’t be able to say no to. I was rapidly thrown into this world full of sexy football players and I really, really liked it!

Dallas is stuck in life where she’s constantly on the tongues of other people. Living under the shadow of her father and his job was always hard, but learning that she can’t even escape it and go to college somewhere else was even harder. As a daughter of football coach in Texas, Dallas was, let’s put it mildly, squished between football and even more football.

“In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.”

Boys her age were only interested in getting into her father’s good graces or too afraid of him to make a move. And now, after her father got the position as a coach for Rusk’s football team, Dallas is back to square one , with her father as a shield and douche of an ex-boyfriend as the team’s QB.

When she met Carson, a brilliant, handsome student she instantly felt at ease with him. For the first time, Dallas was so connected to the other person. But Carson is also a football player and is aspiring for the quarterback’s position, which is a BIG FAT NO in her book. She doesn’t do the same mistakes twice, does she?

From the start to finish Dallas and Carson made me swoon, laugh and tingle. The chemistry between them was so vibrant and strong. They were perfect for each other, even when they tried to stay in the friend zone. Reading about them made me grin so hard!

“I don't know anything about this guy except that his eyes make my mind fuzzy and his muscled arms make my mouth water, and the things he keeps saying... they burn - beginning in my flushed cheeks, blazing through my blood, and curling between my legs until I feel like I have to squeeze them together just to keep from combusting on the spot."

What’s more, all this talking about sexy football players, preferably sweaty, sexy, naked football players was awesome! I literally know nothing about football but I want to learn now.

All Lined Up is another very well done New Adult novel by Cora Carmack. She perfectly pictured romance, college, football, parties all that jazz. I can say she has an amazing talent to write in this genere.

Overall, if you want crazy, sweet and sexy, first novel in Rusk University Series will give you exactly what you need. Be ready for some heart fluttering, swooning, laughing, and panty soaking.

Christie's Review: Layers by Sigal Ehrlich

18269969

Title: Layers
Series:Stark #1
Author:Sigal Ehrlich
Release Date: October 10, 2014
Rating:4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:Yes

According to Hayley love is a subject of ridicule, a myth created by hopeless romantics.

When Hayley makes a resolution to declare her loose lifestyle era R.I.P, it’s all good in theory…

That is until she meets Daniel Stark, a well-respected, mid-thirties business man who is known for his short temper, lack of steady relationships as well as his strict preserve of his private life.

Opinionated, sharp tongued Hayley accidently steps into his office leaving Daniel resolved to put Hayley in her place and have her in his bed.

Both Hayley and Daniel can’t avoid the immediate instigation of the attraction between them.

In a unanimously agreed upon verdict by Hayley and her two best friends, Ian the gay self-absorbed, aspiring model and Natasha the witty, borderline neurotic soul mate, Daniel Stark is to be Hayley’s pure physical attraction, emotions aside era closure.

This book was exactly what I was in the mood for! A well executed CEO book that kept me intrigued until the very end. I have to wonder why I never checked this book out and the only thing I can come up with was that I was burned out on the businessman/CEO plot line during the release time. This was released last October and I think after the 50 Shades phenomenon, there was a mega explosion of similar books trying to cash in for a LONG time. This year I think I may have only read just a couple of this kind so there was an appropriate buffer period which allowed me to start to think about reading one again. Which leads me to Layers. The characters were well done, the plot had me guessing about several things throughout the book, and the heat was impressive and exceptional. Her best friends caused quite a few chuckles at their unabashed lack of shame and coarseness. This is one of those books that I really savored while reading.

Hayley:
This lady is something else. She's the perfect match for her crazy, blunt, and dirty-minded friends. In the beginning of the book, she's a recovering one-night stand girl. She's a disbeliever in romance and love and I can only describe her as cynical. In the past, she's only gone for casual sex but now she's trying to turn over a new leaf. This is something that had me wondering throughout the book. Why did she feel this way? This is never mentioned again after a near hook-up in the beginning of the book. Which made me wonder: with two wonderful, still in love parents, why did she become this way? I kept waiting for the explanation, and it never happened. I can only conclude that the author left this revelation for the next book.

Daniel:
I'm usually a fan of the tall, dark, and handsome variety of Heroes but this blonde guy was undeniably drool worthy.

He's young and successful with his own software company, charismatic and
extremely intelligent, witty, vulnerable and strong willed. Or as Hayley likes to put it, completely psycho!

"Seriously, I'll get fired with only two days of seniority."
"So come work here." He is still in high spirits.
"Not for all the money in the world, even if I have to work the streets."
He looks at me entertained. "And why is that, Hayley Grace? Please do tell."
I radiate my sweetest smile at him. "Because you're kind of...psycho. You know...insane..." And that is an understatement, Mr. Stark.
He lets out a husky, low laugh, and then steps over to wrap me in his embrace. "You are just too sweet."

His moods are ever changing from anger and impatience with his employees to humor, bossiness and sweetness with Hayley. She likes to refer to him as Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde and I think that's a pretty accurate description. This guy can be a total jerk at times. He never lets himself get close to anyone-in his position of wealth and power he's been used more than once by people he cared for and it's caused him to be cold and just as cynical as Hayley. The perfect pair!

When he and Hayley meet she's not intimidated, shy, or scared. She's in his face blunt and honest and she's like no one he's ever experienced. She makes him laugh, which is an almost impossible feat and impresses him with her wit and strength. Not to mention the animal attraction that explodes between them from the moment they lay eyes on each other. (Let's not forget that!)

Standing there is the very picture of hot, tall and sinful. White tee, jeans, and the most alluring bad boy stance. Something in his crooked smile inexplicably leaves me dumbfounded. For the space of a moment, I am lost in him.

Even the simplest kiss led to some explosive passion. It made for some heart pounding moments with plenty of butterflies.

The book is named layers for all the underlying layers of Daniel Stark. What you see is definitely not only what you get. As Hayley peels back the layers she finds a kindred soul, and someone that she comes to care for quickly. This is something she never anticipated happening and she's scared, doubtful, and thrilled all at the same time. She's a whirlwind of emotions and she has to wonder: Is she just in a sex fog? Has all this stellar sex brainwashed her mind or is she really feeling these never felt before emotions? I have to say, I don't blame her for wondering after some of the nuclear sex they have.

With as much as they have in common, they're still tentative about laying their hearts on the line and leaving themselves exposed. But Daniel is convinced it's worth the effort and what Daniel wants....Daniel always gets. It's like trying to fight back against a hurricane. Pointless and reckless. Does that stop her from trying? Of course not! She's Hayley! I'm not a fan of weak heroines and she is definitely not one of them.

I had several unanswered questions, and there's one heck of a cliffhanger. The good news: book 2 is already out. So don't stress-and don't delay. When you're in the mood for a good read with an alpha businessman, blunt and funny heroine with LOTS of steam...look no further. This one will most likely be for you.
