SYNOPSIS

Forbidden love between a stepbrother and a stepsister. Told from the male point of view. 18+ due to sex scenes and language.
She had me at the word ‘Run’. I first met my stepsister, Abigail Dorset at a wedding – my father had left my mom and married hers; I went there expecting to hate her. Instead, I found something much worse…I found my soul mate. It was in the form of a girl who looked just like Snow White, and just like in the fairy tale, there was a wicked stepmother who would do everything in her power to keep control over her daughter’s destiny. Being a Dorset meant you have to marry into the right gene pool and appear to be of the highest moral code. Abigail’s life was mapped out the day she was born. I was seen as bump in the road – a deviant boy who needed to be avoided at all costs. So my stepmother kept us apart…or so she thought… From the moment we met, Abigail and I knew there was something – some invisible force that makes two people want the one thing they can’t have. But we wanted it anyway. Over the years, we would fight and lie, sneak and hide – we’d hurt those around us in our need to be together in whatever way we could. But most of all, we’d hurt each other and we’d hurt ourselves, all in a bid to figure it out and find a way to finally be together because every day we spend apart feels like dying. A life with love is magical. Without it, living is torture.

Follow Sebastian Hawke and Abigail Dorset as they embark of a journey of love and devotion, kept secret, spanning years. Watch, as it drives them together and tears them apart before bringing them together again, older and wiser, ready to find a way – to do whatever it takes – because being apart from the one person you were born to love, isn’t an option.

EXCERPT

Standing on the edge of the pool, I roll my shoulders and twist at the waist, loosening up before leaning forward and diving. The cool wet surrounds my body as I jet through it, rising to the surface and dragging my body through the water, lap after lap up and down, quieting my mind that never seems to stop thinking, harassing me with the voices of doubt and negativity, all telling me I’m worthless and I don’t belong. They tell me I’m a deviant. And maybe I am... I’m not who they think I am. I’m not what they think I am. They don’t even know me. As I swim, I try not to think about my dad and his lack of caring – his lack of confidence in me. I try not to think of the life we had before he traded in happiness for material possessions. Faster and faster I swim, my arms and legs, churning through the water as my chest heaves with the effort. I focus on the ache of my body. The breath as I hold it in my chest. It’s always so much harder to be calm here. I don't know why he preferred this, even with all the stuff around; it's the loneliest place I’ve ever been to. And in the quiet, my mind wins. Reaching the end of another lap, I roll my body to change directions and rocket off the side of the pool, propelling myself under the water. Just as I'm about to rise to the surface, a vision appears beneath me. It all happens so fast that it takes a while before my brain catches up with what’s happening, and I swear I’m seeing things. But then a pair of lips press against mine, shocking me into reality as I’m faced with a set of amused blue eyes. I jerk backwards in surprise and plant my feet, standing up in the center of the pool. My chest heaves from exertion and surprise as I wipe my hand over my face and watch as Abi emerges from the water like the lady of the lake, so fucking stunning as she rises from the water, water pouring from her body, running between her round breasts that are covered with only the smallest pieces of blue fabric. My fucking cock twitches and the word ‘deviant’ flashes in my mind as I force myself to look away and keep my hands by my sides, when all I really want to do is grab her by that dark hair and kiss that giant smile on her face. "What are you doing here?" I ask immediately, using aggression to cover what I’m really thinking. “You’re never here at the same time as me.” She shrugs and pulls her long hair over her shoulder, wringing out the water. It runs down her breast and my eyes follow the stream. Did I just growl? "School's out, and I’m not doing summer courses when this is the last summer before college. I want to have a bit of fun for a change. But it’s nice to see you too. It's only been four years, brother." My brow furrows. "Don't kiss me then call me brother." She grins. "Why? It's not like I stuck the tongue in." She uses her hand to nudge me playfully in the chest and I catch her by the wrist, holding her hand against me as I look into her eyes while mine burn with a long held desire. “Because right now, I’m not feeling very brotherly toward you.” Her mouth drops open and she lets out a tiny gasp. It’s so fucking sexy that I immediately picture her doing that with my face buried between her thighs. My thumb slides up and down her wrist as her hand presses against my chest, able to feel the increasing rhythm of my heart and the rise and fall of my rapid breathing. Slowly, my eyes absorb the sight of her; taking in the changes of her face, her curves, her hair… I get that same tightening in my guts that I did when I first met her. Time hasn’t lessened my reaction to having her in front of me. But now that I'm older, I know exactly what it is. And I know it's not the way I should be feeling around my stepsister. Deviant… My eyes drop to her mouth and the most powerful urge to grab her and bite those plump lips of hers, assaults my mind, and I have to release her hand and look away to force it out of my mind or I’m going to lose control and do just that. It would be stupid. We’re out in the fucking open. What am I doing? “Just. Don’t,” I say, my frown returning as I step away. “You shouldn’t have come.”

Synopsis

I get it. I’ve heard the jokes. My name sounds like some medieval character who was a hero. Hell, my best friend’s named Arturo King. Ring any medieval bells? But this is my story and I’m no hero. I also get the jokes. Lancelot is a play on the words lance and lot, and a lance refers to a sword, which is a euphemism for dick. What does a man do with his dick? He fucks. A lot. So if my name is Lansing Lotte, I must be “fucking lot.” Get it? Fucking a lot? Which I’m not saying I don’t, that’s not the point. Another reference to something sexual. Get my point? Huh, I made a punny. But again this is my story, and I haven’t done anything funny. In fact, I’ve killed three women, and only one of them I loved. Yeah, that’s right? Not laughing now. It’s not funny. And I’m definitely no fucking hero.

Character Introduction: Lansing Lotte

Paisley Belle reporting for Guitar Central. Today’s interview is with Lansing Lotte, guitar hero for the award winning rock band, The Nights. Despite the recent tragedy for The Nights, I was able to sit down with Mr. Lotte in a small coffee shop down the street from his historical home in New York City. Perkins Vale, drummer, and Tristan Lyons, bass guitarist, will be joining us soon, but with the few private minutes alone, I begin my inquiry.

Let’s start with how you got into music?

L: My mother was the most instrumental in my introduction to the guitar. Pardon the pun. She was what you’d call laid back, a naturalist, almost hippy-like. Music surrounded us and she eventually taught me to play on a 1931 Gibson L-I Flattop. I still have that guitar all these years later.

Speaking of family, we understand you’ve had a rather unusual upbringing.

L: (growing fidgety) I don’t typically talk about it, but yes, Vivian DuLac is not my natural mother. Yes, I did inherit Logres Construction.

Lansing remains silent for a moment, reflective, and I decide to move on.

Tell me about your nickname: The Lady Killer.

L: (flinches at first, but then relaxes, pushing his longer bangs off his forehead) Yeah, well, I’m okay with the ladies (a sly crooked smile begins and those blue eyes sparkle), but I’ve been known to make a few mistakes, break a few hearts. Maybe one too many. (sighs).

Broken hearts, what about being a hero?

L: (sitting up straighter and continuing to fidget with the coffee cup in front of him) I wouldn’t say I’m a hero. I did what anyone would do. I have…a connection…to the little girl. I needed to get to her.

(Raising my eyebrow) A connection, how?

L: (smiling deeper) It’s a long story (laughs).

Well, tell me the story of the band. How did you all come together?

L: I met Arturo when we were teenagers; he’s two years older than me. It was a fight over a girl (he looks away for a moment). Anyway, met Perkins in the woods one summer. We just sort of clicked. He’s a natural on the drums. Met Tristan after Arturo went to college. We just gel, a band of brothers.

(I soften my tone) And speaking of brothers, how are you all holding up with the news of Arturo?

L: What news?

Well, the recent events surrounding Arturo and his…

L: There is no news. All we know is Arturo was in an accident. I’m sure you’ve seen the images. Graphic. Disturbing. But we are still hoping for the best. He’s been spotted sporadically, but we don’t have any definite leads. What we do know, is if Arturo King were dead, we would all feel it. Our connection is that strong. If one goes, we would know it.

In an attempt to change directions, I ask: How is Guinevere DeGrance?

L: Why?

I’m taken aback for a moment and then he continues.

L: I apologize. Guinevere is holding up the best she can. Obviously this has all been quite a blow to her. She’s been through a lot, but she’s a strong woman. She’ll make it through this. She has me. She has the band. We are all there for one another.

There for each other, but who is there for you, specifically? (winking)

L: (seeming to relax). Someone amazing is there for me. I didn’t see her coming, but she means everything to me. She’s changed my life, literally. It’s a new chapter for me, and I’m looking forward to where this will lead (smiles deeply).

I can feel the exciting energy for his unspoken new love interest, but I decide not to pry further.

Okay, can you comment on your world tour being cancelled?

L: We had to cancel. We won’t continue without Arturo, so we decided to wait. The fans have been understanding. We are still working on finishing the album, and looking forward to a release tentatively in August. We appreciate everyone’s support for Arturo and we are certain he feels the love they keep sending out to him.

Anything you want to say to your fans?

L: We love you. Thanks for your support. We’re sticking together, no worries. You can keep up to date with all things The Nights on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/737318906359166/

At that point, a beautiful blonde woman and a little girl dressed in a ladybug costume enter the coffee shop. Lansing’s attention shifts immediately and the little girl waves to him. He winks at her and she giggles in response. I don’t miss that his eyes wander up to the woman who waits patiently in line for coffee, not acknowledging him. The weight of the Lady Killer’s attention must be too much, because she turns toward us, and slowly smiles at Mr. Lotte. I’ve seen that look before on a few ladies of society. This one definitely has more-than-a-crush on the rock star sitting before me, but I can tell by the look on his face, he feels the same way about her.

There’s no sign of Perkins Vale or Tristan Lyons, but I can’t wait to get the nitty-gritty on the quiet member of the band, Perkins. That giant drummer has some secrets, and I can’t wait to learn them next.

Paisley Bell, Guitar Central. 2015

Patrycja's Review: Kissing Madeline by Lex Martin

20632298

Title: Kissing Madeline
Series: Dearest #3, Can be read as a standalone
Author: Lex Martin
Release Date: 27 April, 2015
Rating: 4.25 - 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:. No

What’s the worst thing about wanting a sexy NFL football player? Everyone else wants him, too.

After catching my boyfriend getting deep-throated by a skanky cage girl, I’ve learned my lesson – never date a professional athlete. Never. Besides, I have more important things to worry about, like not blowing my shot to make it as a broadcast reporter. I won’t let anything get in my way, not even the new “it boy” of the NFL and my hot-as-hell neighbor.

What's the worst thing about getting death glares from his new neighbor? It doesn't make him want her any less.

I’ve worked my ass off to make it to the pros. The last thing I need is the complication of a relationship, especially since my last one was a total train wreck. But I can’t stop thinking about the feisty girl next door with the smart mouth. And I’d love nothing more than to show her what to do with that mouth.

Friends with benefits might be the best idea he’s ever had. Or the worst.

Kissing Madeline is a companion novel to DEAREST CLEMENTINE and FINDING DANDELION. Each book is a stand-alone.

Lex Martin once again charmed me and gave me a little piece of heaven. Her books are really good and with every new release she manages to completely bewitch me. Her stories are exactly what I need in my life – a mixture of fun, sex and love!

So even though some time has passed since I finished reading Kissing Madeline, I am still swooning. In fact, the same second I start to think about this heart fluttering, intense and incredibly romantic story I am getting dizzy all over again. It’s just one of those books that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside – a novel that makes a reader smile and smile. It’s just so lighthearted and adorable you cannot help yourself. Kissing Madeline is superb!

Do you like reading about sexy, NFL players? Do you like steamy, panty melting scenes that involve said NFL player? Yep, I am sure you do. And that’s why you will want to read Kissing Madeline!

Daren, the main hero is not only a quarter back in NFL, he’s also sex on stick and a really nice guy! He may have made few mistakes in the past, but now he really is decent, loveable character. If you have read Dearest Clementine, you probably already know that he cheated on his ex-girlfriend. Years has passed since that and he realized how terrible he acted and he is sure he’ll never make the same mistake.

He’s met Maddie some time before his NFL draft and was smitten with her. He liked her good looks, feisty personality and the sexy vibe she had going on. So when Madeline accidentally becomes his neighbor and the reporter that interviews him for TV, he wants to get her naked and in his bed.

They share instant connection, full of fireworks attraction and simply are made for each other.

Kissing Madeline is full of sweet, touching moments. With great romance and complex, likeable characters, used here ‘friends with benefits’ theme seemed to be more surprising and not so annoying.

I liked the attraction and lust between the main characters. It was exactly the right amount of sexy without it being all about sex. The dynamics between Madeline and Daren was just AMAZING. I laughed a lot reading about their shenanigans, and their banter was so sweet and funny. Maddie really could be feisty firecracker.

Why not five stars then? Hmm… I just loved ‘Dearest Clementine’, first book in the series the best. Despite Maddie and Daren being awesome, characters from first novel were absolutely mind consuming. And I couldn’t help but compare them. Yet, I assure you that getting lost inside Daren and Maddie’s book is worth the effort.

If you like sweet, spicy and heart racing new adult stories this is a must read for you. I highly recommend it!

Patrycja's Review: The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

25031450

Title: The Mistake
Series: Off-Campus #2
Author: Elle Kennedy
Release Date: 28 April, 2015
Rating: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:. No

He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

Elle Kennedy simply rocked my world! In February, I had the immense pleasure to read The Deal – absolutely cute and sexy new adult read that made me smile for days – and now, barely few months later, I am on cloud nine once again. Why? Because, well, Elle’s won over my heart for the second time! She’s just that good.

I admit, I was a little bit afraid that given to my foul mood these past few weeks, I wouldn’t be able to fully enjoy The Mistake. I was actually sure that there is no way I would be perfectly satisfied with this novel. I mean, how can someone write a book that is just as good as The Deal was, in a matter of few short months? Masterpieces take time, right? Wrong. Elle Kennedy made me realize that if you’re talented enough, you can write and publish a book very quickly and still make it a hit. So praises for that!

You probably all already were in love with John Logan while reading The Deal. How could you not be? This hockey player is a cause of plenty hearts attack and lost panties. But behind his cocky attitude, smart ass comments and man whoring ways is hidden a young man who’s hurting. Firstly, he has a painful crush on his best friend’s girl. Logan is fighting his pull toward Hannah of course, but it is tearing him apart. He’s ashamed, uneasy and lonely. He tries to forget about Wellsy – using the booze and sex, but it doesn’t help much.

What’s more, he also has an alcoholic father who is dragging him and his brother down.

Grace, on the other hand, is adorable girl with a heart of gold. Maybe a bit predictable and socially awkward, but in my opinion it worked pretty well. She’s a freshman and a virgin, who doesn’t have a filter when talking to hot guys, which frankly means she blabs everything; some stories were comical!

When they meet, they discover they are pretty good together – they have fun, the normal and the sexy type too and Grace cannot believe her luck. She really did hit a jackpot with Logan. But he’s still mending his heart, trying to get over Hannah and doesn’t know if Grace is just a sexy distraction or something more…

In her usual fashion, Elle Kennedy delivered very steamy, get ready to change your panties New Adult romantic comedy, that will make your heart swell, your lady parts beg for attention and laugh out loud like crazy lunatic.

The Mistake simply doesn’t disappoint. Logan’s story is as engaging, thrilling and sexy as Garrett’s. I am sure that every person who has read and enjoyed The Deal, will love and cherish next part of Off – Campus Series.

It’s a perfect mixture of anything that I appreciate in New Adult novels. And I am really mesmerized with it and cannot imagine how I will survive the weeks before additional part in the series releases. Those hockey boys have a big piece of my heart and it literally kills me to wait for Dean’s and Tucker’s story. I really hope the author will hurry up and grace us all with sequel just as quickly!! I need more. I am addicted to Elle Kennedy’s writing. She’s the boss. So please God, let the third book come out immediately.

Christie's review: Only Trick by Jewel E. Ann

23840965

Title:Only Trick
Series: Standalone
Author: Jewel E. Ann
Release Date: April 13, 2015
Rating:4.5 stars
Cliffhanger: no

“Don’t Look Back in Anger”

In one night, I lost five years of my life. Here’s what I know …

I was homeless.

I’m a recovering drug addict.

My inked skin crawls from lustful eyes.

I have a serious aversion to women.

My gay partner is a home wrecker.

I own a gun and I’m a damn good shot.

I’m a makeup artist, but it’s an insult to my talent.

I’ve never wanted to possess anything except my Ducati … until I met Darby.

Now here’s what I know since that day in the ER when she pieced me back together … nothing—but a few random thoughts.

My new “friend” is distracting, clingy, and obsessed with acronyms, emojis, and phrases like “breakfast soul mates.”

I didn’t want to like her, but she crawled under my skin and swallowed me whole. Now we’re best friends and she’s my new addiction. I'd drink her from a shot glass, snort her up my nose, or inject her into my veins if I could. What I won’t do … is ever tell her that.

She doesn’t know me … I don’t know me. When those missing years come back, I think she will hate me … I think I will hate me.

My parents named me Patrick Roth, and this is my story.

This is not my first Jewel E. Ann book, but this was a quite a pleasant surprise. I went into this hopeful, but trying not to let my expectations run away with me. After reading Holding You, I saw a whole lot of talent in the storytelling, but unfortunately the story itself I didn't end up loving. What I liked about this author in the past was here: intriguing and engaging characters that were well developed. And a fantastic, witty humor transfused throughout the book that gave me one big, perpetual smile. Let me tell you, this book had its intense moments, but the heroine's playful levity balanced everything out to make a nicely fine tuned and well rounded book.

I enjoyed this sassy heroine so much! Darby is a girl whose life is stuck in a rut. She's a physician's assistant in the ER who loves her job but continues to get all of the most cringeworthy and undesirable cases. She takes a lot of crap from a lot of people and it's beginning to wear on her.

Even in the adult world, bullies pop balloons. If I were a guy, I'd be grabbing my crotch looking for my balls. Yep, they're still there, shoe marks and all.

Her family is snobby at best and emotionally abusive at worst. Her father is a politician whose only tender side is the one presented in public to impress the media. Her boyfriend is an egotistical tool who likes to refer to himself in the third person during sex.

So she has all of that to be bitter about. (She's not) What she actually is, is funny. Her inner dialogue in the first chapter alone made me a very happy woman; I couldn't stop chuckling. When she comes face to face with Trick in an exam room, every bit of her sense and her ability to speak evaporates. She's completely stunned by his male beauty and intimidated my his fuck off vibes. I really felt for the poor girl. Though she's instantly exploding in lust, panting after him like a dog in heat, he appears to want nothing to do with women.

Trick is gay.

She comes to find out that it's almost a blessing in disguise. Almost. They're able to spend some time together as Trick slowly lets his guard down. She finds out that he's a make up artist and he has a shady history that he won't speak of; he's seeped in mystery which only serves to build his intrigue more. The shadows surrounding him leave a very ominous feeling to build and you don't get many answers until the end.

Darcy becomes comfortable around him enough to be herself and let her true personality out. If there's one thing that Trick appreciates, it's honest people, and he hasn't come across anyone quite so straightforward and real as Darby.

"I have a vagina, you know?" Vibrant white teeth peek through his uncontrolled smirk.
"I heard that rumor."
"Can you deal with it?"

One thing that clear about Trick: he's imposing and kind of an asshole, but under all of that, he's vulnerable and trying to protect himself. He was so rude and blunt at times, but I couldn't help loving him. His feelings for Darby grew from exasperation and anger to a bond that's rooted in respect and friendship. He puts up with her silliness and gives her back all the shit she deals to him.

He's a take-me-as-I-am-I don't-give-a-shit guy, stopping on the confidence scale a hair shy of arrogant-aka make-you-beg-for-it-sexy. I've met my match.

I loved these two, they were complete opposites but at the same time, they understood each other implicitly like no one in their lives ever had before. They had much more in common than appeared on the surface. The sexual tension grew and thickened. He was clearly off bounds, but that wasn't stopping Darby from developing feelings for him that could never be returned.

I loved Trick, his dominant personality with a fierce protectiveness and affection for Darcy. He was strong, sexy, and an amazingly talented guy. He was a force to be reckoned with; could she weather the storm? All will be revealed in the end.

I just couldn't give it a full five stars as much as I enjoyed it. The reveal of his past wasn't quite as dark as I was expecting after all of the build up to be honest. But I couldn't find it in myself to rate any lower, I looked past that and the HEA on speed (it was extremely improbable and tied up in a perfect bow). But the fact that I was highlighting the story like crazy and read the book in almost one sitting speaks for itself. This book was a joy and a wild experience all at the same time. If you're looking for a book with originality, a fierce and unorthodox love, Only Trick could be for you. I can't recommend it enough.
