Getting her attention was the easy part. Keeping it might be damn near impossible.

Review
There aren't too many authors that I can say give me a positive reading experience every single time. The odds of that are extremely low and I could probably count on one hand the authors that deliver the goods with every new release. J. Daniels is one of them. When I pick up one of her books, I know that I'm going to receive the following things:
Pages brimming with delicious naughty behavior
An addiction to those pages that prevents me from setting the book down
Memorable stories that (without fail) I always want more of
Characters that make me laugh with their outrageousness
That recipe concocts a feast that I gorge on and leaves me pleasantly sated. This book was especially fun and even more exciting to get my hands on. Why? Sweet Obsession is a crossover book that joins characters from both of her series, the Alabama Summer series and the Sweet Addiction series. Getting to visit characters from both of these in one book? Win-win situation here. If that weren't enough...It's Brooke. And Mason. Could there be a more perfect pair?
Genius move, Jessica-I was positively twitching to posess Sweet Obsession. I'm not even pretending that I was remotely calm about it.
Brooke Wicks is a girl after my own heart. When I heard she was getting her own book I just knew that this would most likely be one of my favorite J. Daniels stories. She's exactly the type of heroine I go for. Bold. Mouthy. And completely and totally confident in her sense of self. Truth? She's utterly shameless, but I wouldn't have her any other way. She's a girl who doesn't wait for a man to pursue her. She sees what she wants, takes it with both hands and moves on. One and done-that's her motto.
When Mason opens his hot yoga studio across the street from the bakery where she works, she targets him immediately. Waltzes right over there and offers herself to him on a platter. Because after one glance at his hard body, she knows he has the goods to show a girl a good time. But after he opened his mouth and his hot Australian accent spilled out? Game over. He might as well concede defeat because she was determined to get a piece of that. To her surprise, Mason wasn't biting. He was too smart for that, but that's not to say he wasn't tempted by the little devil.
Drop my shorts, right here? No, obviously I wouldn't, but fuck if I don't want to maybe pull her inside and shock her a little. Show off my cock to a woman who looks like she's ready to eat me alive.
Brooke was bewildered and appalled at his repeated refusal. But that was perhaps what made the situation even funnier. Her inner thoughts made me laugh so many times. She takes audacious to a whole new level.
He was seriously leaving? No...no, that's impossible. He can't just leave. Hello! Massive Erection! Get back here! I'm supposed to be handling you!
The push and pull was constant between these two characters. It was a war of wills, and with two equally determined people up against each other it was entertaining to say the least. What was so refreshing to me was the role reversal in the typical male/female behavior. With the hero withholding his body from the heroine in the hope of gaining a deeper relationship and the heroine being against commitment, it was a unique twist that made for some quality reading.
This book is all about the tease. Those moments of anticipation and unfulfilled need that draw out that leave you gasping for satisfaction.
"Mason," she moans as I bend and kiss her cheek. My mouth moves to her ear.
"I could fuck you right now, up against this brick wall while anyone could walk by us. Would you like that? Would you come for me?"
There were so many things to love about Mason, but what I especially loved was the fact that he saw through her bullshit. Underneath that hard shell she shows the world is a woman who takes pride in herself, loves and protects her friends, and makes him feel like he conquered the world when she gives him a soft smile. That soft core that she doesn't show to many is more valued by him because of it's infrequent appearance.
For the first time, a man takes the time to dig into what makes Brooke Wicks tick. He slowly seduces her into giving her true self to him and I found that so beautiful. His denial of his own personal pleasure in the pursuit of Brooke was admirably self sacrificing. And again, not something you see everyday in romance.
My infatuation with her started out as an idea. A glimpse of a woman I wanted to know and understand. A delightful interest. But the more time I spend with her, the more desperate I feel.
To have her. To keep her.
Of course all of that sexual tension finally exploding was one hell of a finely executed scene. It. Was. Delicious.
As much as I loved this one, there was something holding me back from giving it a full five stars. The more time I spent thinking about it the more the question kept appearing in my mind. Why is Brooke the way she is? Why is she not just commitment shy but a clear cut commitment 'phobe? Because it wasn't just that she preferred to keep things casual with men. She was literally terrified of getting close to a man. The thought gave her panic attacks and kept her from allowing a good man into her life through repeated examples of honesty and support of her. I wanted to know what motivated that mindset and it never really got addressed to my liking. But overall, I was thrilled with Brooke and Mason's story. I was more than worth the wait-I wanted to savor every moment.
I can't say enough about this author. She has quickly skyrocketed up to the top of my favorite author list and I don't see her ever leaving. With each book, the writing improves like fine wine. If you haven't read anything by her yet, it's time to see what you've been missing.
