Title:Crazy Good
Series: Standalone

Author: Rachel Robinson
Release Date: April 7th, 2014
Rating: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger: No

Before there were bikers, or fighters, or even good old-fashioned jerks, there were Navy SEALs. They put the bad in badass because, well…it’s their job.

Navy SEAL Maverick Hart has everything. Women want him. Grown men idolize him. Little boys want to grow up and be like him. The job, the glory—it’s all his. Not because it’s handed to him…because he works hard for it. The second his sights lock on something, he owns it—or destroys it. Unfortunately he does both at the same time.

Windsor Forbes only takes calculated risks in her profession and in her personal life. After being left at the altar by the only person she’s ever loved, the very last thing she’s looking for is a relationship—especially the insane brand an arrogant Navy SEAL is offering. Hesitant, yet trusting to a fault, she gives in.

She knew she shouldn’t take the chance, especially a second time, but love is irrational and their love is perfect, infallible. Or so she thought…

The downfall to having everything is you have that much more to lose. A man like Maverick can’t have it all without something slipping out of grasp.

Crazy people perish for love.

Good people live for it.

Love doesn’t die. No matter how many bullets you put in it.

I want her to only see me. Eat me. Breathe me. Drink me. I want to consume Windsor Forbes.

In the beginning, Maverick is a total bad boy player only out to find his prey, bag it, and move along.

Fortunately, as a Navy SEAL, he's got plenty of women lining up for the position of one night with him. When he locks eyes on Windsor (Love that name!) one night, he decides immediately, she's next on his list. Normally, I don't care for heroes that act like this. I can't stand when they blatently use women and toss them aside, but what I hate even more is heroines that simper and sigh and fall all over these bad boys and ignore their obvious character. Does this woman fall for his looks and facade? Hell no. She crushes his play. Hard.

He approaches her with his cocky swagger and dimples on display and gets quite a surprise.

"I don't do dates. I don't do numbers. I work with them. Let's not pretend this is going anywhere." She motions with her hand. "I know what you're after and, frankly, I'm not giving it up. Not to anyone and especially not to a Navy SEAL who shoots just as precisely with his gun as he does with his dick," she says.

Mav is shocked but decides to put her out of his mind and move on. But her intelligence, her beauty, and the sexy sway of her hips as she's walking away pulls him in and he can't stop thinking about her. He can't deny that no one else will do for him except her. And he's going to have a hell of a time convincing her he's worthy.

My ultimate weakness has been exposed, ripped open so wide that I'll never be able to fill the fucking gap with anything or anyone except her."

He hunts her down and tries again after a week and does she cave and give in? Absolutely not. I love that she held her ground and made him work for every little bit of her time. Because she's worth it. She's been burned in the past by her ex and she's not about to let someone walk into her life and use her and abuse her trust like she's already experienced.

She finally agrees to a date and he's completely respectful, takes her out in a crazy, spontaneous and thrilling way, and shows her by taking into his home and letting her into his life and showing her the real Maverick. She's special and means more to him than anyone ever before. And she can't deny the sexual chemistry they have every time they're in the same room together.

He brushes a strand of my hair away from my face and cups my bare shoulder with his other hand. The magic shivers start again. He leans down and I have to work at controlling my shaking body. He's going to kiss me. He's going to kiss me. He swallows and the tattoo on his neck dances. I want to lick it.

Usually, it's the heroine that wants to take things slow, but Mav is in deep and he's scared that once they give in to what they want, she's going to leave. He's been through something in his past (it's hinted at but isn't explained until later) and he doesn't feel worthy. He wants to dig deep under her skin until he knows that she's going to never leave.

She was getting impatient. I was getting impatient. The sexual tension was crackling, mounting, and I just knew it was going to be good. The anticipation was killing me! And then...Finally...

I wipe her bottom lip with my thumb and kiss her. I taste Windsor. I want to bottle this fucking flavor and drink until I'm drunk. Her blue eyes are heavy, glazed with lust, her pupils almost completely dilated. I ask, "Can I have you?" It's a loaded question. Resting her hand over my new tat, she says, "I thought you'd never ask."

I was loving every second of their heat and it was definitely worth the wait. This woman knows how to write passion. Amazing.

So now they're both all in, blissfully happy but nervous and just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Could it really be this easy? This emotional roller coaster ride that's taken them through fear, anticipation, passion and lust, and tenderness...is this where they'll stay...for good?

They have a way of communicating with each other: One Word. This is their way of being open and honest with their feelings. All they need is one word. One word to tell the other what they need, what they want, or how they feel. That was beautiful.

When Mav is shipped overseas, they're scared of the separation, but are willing to do whatever it takes to hold onto each other and stay strong. But after a horrible tragedy occurs, emotions are running away from them and the world is spinning out of control. How do they hang on when everything has changed irrevocably? Nothing will ever be the same. Truths are revealed, everything is laid out and let me tell you, I wasn't expecting what happened. I was gutted by what occured.

They both make some mistakes, and rash decisions and everything crumbles. Is their love strong enough to endure all the hurdles that are thrown at them?

I was so impressed with this author's writing and I was grabbed by the heart. I had flutters, tears, flutters again...and left the book feeling so satisfied. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? The hero made some moves that had me wanting to smack him or possibly throw my kindle at the wall...and that's saying something. Nothing comes between me and my e-reader...lol. But of course, he made up for it and went over and beyond expressing his feelings with romantic gestures and proving his love. The ending was everything I could've asked for.

I loved Mav and Windsor's friends. They were a riot and so completely there for them through everything. They had a bond that was beautiful to see. Oh, and I was going to make a small playlist to go along with the book because I had several songs in mind that fit, but after listening to the full lyrics of this song, I'm just sayin'- if you want a preview of this book in a song that illustrates through every word the definition of this couple? Check this song out. (I love this cover):

Overall, to sum it up...

One word...Amazing.
